Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of our land and the rich sounds of our diverse cultures, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the flavors and traditions that shape my identity. Whether it's savoring a bowl of pepperpot, indulging in a delicious cook-up rice, or gathering with family for a good ole' lime, the warmth of my heritage is something I carry with me wherever I go.
Though I currently reside overseas, I maintain a strong connection to my roots. Guyana may not be geographically part of the Caribbean, but our history and culture resonate with the spirit of our Caribbean neighbors. Our journey has been one of resilience, as evidenced by how we navigate challenges, from colonial exploitation to modern-day developments. I often share stories with my fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, reminding them of the beauty of our landscapes, like the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls, and the camaraderie we share, whether it's through local cricket games or spirited conversations about our homeland.
