Greetings! My name is Kenyatta Assanah, and I am proud to call Essequibo D Old Road Good Hope home. As a dedicated prison officer, I work tirelessly to contribute to the safety and well-being of my community. Growing up in this beautiful region has shaped my identity, offering me a unique perspective on the diverse cultural landscape of Guyana, where communities come together much like the flowing waters of the Pomeroon River.
Food is a central part of my life, and nothing feels more comforting than sharing a warm dhal puri with curry, especially when paired with duck, a true Guyanese dish! The joy of gathering with family and friends over a delicious meal is at the heart of our culture. I cherish the vibrant flavors of our local cuisine, celebrated not just here but also in our Guyanese diaspora, where our culinary traditions create bonds that transcend borders.
When Iām not serving my community, you can find me exploring the lush landscapes of Guyana, from the serene Baracaro Island to the vibrant settlements along the Corantijn River. I take pride in my heritage and strive to share the rich culture of Guyana, where we celebrate our Caribbean roots while embracing our unique identity.
