Hello! I’m Kevin Austin, a proud carpenter residing in Bank Demerara 920, Onderneeming West in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the lush landscapes and rich culture inspire my craftsmanship. Growing up near the Lower Pom River, I’ve always been influenced by the natural beauty and the warmth of our communities, where everyone knows each other and good food—like pepperpot and metemgee—is just a gathering away.
As a carpenter, I strive to build more than just structures; I aim to create spaces that embody the spirit of our people. I find joy in working with local materials and techniques, and I often draw inspiration from the traditional homes that dot our countryside. I’m also connected to the Guyanese diaspora, where many of us carry the stories of our ancestors and the flavors of our homeland, from the sweet cashew nuts of the Pomeroon to the bustling markets of Georgetown.
In my free time, you might find me enjoying a peaceful afternoon swinging in a hammock, watching the chickens and ducks forage in the backyard, or sharing stories with neighbors over a cup of strong local coffee. I believe in the power of community and the importance of staying connected to our roots, even as we navigate the challenges of modern life in Guyana.
