Hello! My name is Khamattee Persaud, and I proudly call River GT. Danielstown in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a housewife, I dedicate my days to nurturing my family and preserving the rich traditions that define our vibrant culture. From the aromatic spices of our local dishes, like pepperpot and metemgee, to the lively celebrations during Phagwah and Mashramani, I strive to keep our Guyanese heritage alive in every way possible.
Living in a community that embraces both our lush landscapes and the warmth of our people, I cherish the stories shared around the dinner table, often featuring tales of our ancestors and the journeys of those in the diaspora. I believe that even as our nation grows and develops—especially with the recent oil discoveries—it's important to remain connected to our roots and uplift each other in the process.
