Greetings! My name is Kismatie Ramdhan, and I am proud to call Coast 28 Bamboo Dam in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a homemaker, I cherish the opportunity to nurture my family and share the rich cultural heritage of Guyana with my children. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of the Essequibo Coast, I find joy in cooking traditional dishes, such as pepperpot and metemgee, which not only fill our bellies but also connect us to our roots.
Guyana, though often overlooked on the Caribbean map, is a treasure trove of diverse cultures and stories. I understand the struggles that come with living in an oil-rich nation where the realities can be quite different from the picture painted by those in power. It is this duality that shapes our identity; we are a proud people, enriched by our mixed heritage, celebrating our Afro-Guyanese, Indo-Guyanese, and Indigenous roots, all while navigating the complexities of our society.
