Hello! I’m Sudesh Persaud, a proud farmer from the vibrant community of Coast 28 Bamboo Dam Sparta in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, known for its rich biodiversity and lush landscapes. Here, I cultivate a variety of crops that not only nourish my family but also contribute to the local economy. The sweet aroma of ripe plantains and the vibrant colors of the cassava fields remind me daily of the simple yet profound joys that come from working the land.
Growing up in Guyana, I have been influenced by the diverse cultures that make our nation unique. From the savory taste of pepperpot during Christmas gatherings to the rhythmic sounds of chutney music at local festivals, my life is a celebration of our heritage. I carry these traditions with me, even as I connect with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora who share stories of their experiences—whether they are reminiscing about their childhood in Guyana or sharing a laugh over a jar of Marmite, as many of us do!
As I continue my journey in agriculture, my heart remains anchored in the essence of Guyana.
