Hello! My name is Krishendatt Krishna, a passionate painter based in the vibrant community of Seaview Housing on the West Coast of Demerara. My work is deeply inspired by the lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage that Guyana has to offer. From the serene Pomeroon River, where I often find inspiration, to the colorful festivities of Mashramani, my art reflects the beauty and diversity of our homeland. I strive to capture the essence of our traditions, celebrating the flavors of our local cuisine, like pepperpot and metemgee, which bring our communities together.
Living in Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I've developed a strong connection to our rivers, such as the Lower Pomeroon and Bat Creek, which serve as a backdrop to both my life and my art. Each brushstroke tells a story of the settlements around me, from the peaceful Lower Pom River Woodland to the bustling atmosphere of the nearby markets. My aim is to create pieces that resonate with both locals and the Guyanese diaspora, igniting memories of home and the communal spirit that ties us all together, regardless of where we are in the world.
