Hello! My name is Lalman Deodat, and I am a proud farmer from the vibrant community of Hope Essequibo Coast on the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam River. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich biodiversity of Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our natural resources. I cultivate a variety of crops that reflect our heritage, and nothing brings me more joy than sharing the fruits of my labor with friends and family, especially during festive occasions where traditional dishes like pepperpot take center stage.
As a Guyanese, I hold a strong connection to my culture, one that is often celebrated through our diverse cuisine and warm hospitality. I believe that Guyana’s culinary offerings, including street food delicacies that many might overlook, deserve more recognition. From the bustling markets to the serene riverbanks, there’s so much to explore and experience beyond the well-trodden paths. I often find myself reminiscing about the days spent at the Bourdain Market, where the rich aromas and vibrant colors create an atmosphere filled with life and community.
