Hello! My name is Lee Fredericks, and I’m a proud labourer from the beautiful Essequibo Hilltop Tapakuma in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Nestled between lush landscapes and flowing rivers like the Kamadankaro, my home is a reflection of the rich cultural mosaic that defines our nation. We celebrate the unique blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Javanese influences, which is evident in our vibrant festivals, music, and, of course, our delicious cuisine!
One of my fondest memories is gathering with family and friends around a pot of pepper pot, our national dish, during the holidays. The aroma of spices fills the air, evoking a sense of togetherness that resonates deeply within our community. Whether it’s sharing stories by the river or enjoying a traditional meal, these moments remind me of the warmth and resilience of our people.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I take pride in sharing our culture with the world.
