Hello! My name is Leroy Roberts, and I proudly call the beautiful Coast 6 Old Road Bounty Hall in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a fisherman, I spend my days on the mesmerizing waters of the Pomeroon River, where I cultivate a deep connection with the land and its rich resources. The vibrant communities along the river are filled with warmth and culture, and I cherish the moments spent sharing stories and traditional meals with my neighbors, especially dishes like fresh fish curry and pepper pot that resonate with our Guyanese heritage.
Growing up in Guyana, I've always appreciated the beauty of our natural landscapes—from the lush greenery of the rainforest to the breathtaking sunsets over the river. These experiences shape not only my work but also my identity. As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I have friends and family scattered across Canada, the USA, and even Brazil, who often reminisce about our homeland. Just like the vibrant comments I see from folks like Hazel and Ian, we share a collective pride in our roots and the promise of what Guyana is becoming, especially with the newfound attention on our "black gold."
In my spare time, I enjoy connecting with other Guyanese, whether it's through social media or gatherings, to celebrate our culture and heritage.
