Hello! My name is Lewis Thornhill, and I’m proud to call St. Lawrence, East Bank, Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. I’ve spent much of my life immersed in the rich culture of Guyana, from enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot and cassava bread to gathering with family during Mashramani celebrations. Living in this vibrant community has not only shaped my identity but has also deepened my appreciation for our shared traditions and the lush beauty of our land, including the tranquil Pomeroon River, where I love to spend my weekends.
As a labourer, I understand the value of hard work and community. Whether it’s helping build a home or participating in local events, I believe in the importance of supporting one another and celebrating our heritage. I often reminisce about the times spent with my parents, who instilled in me a deep sense of pride for our Guyanese roots. I enjoy connecting with the diaspora community, where stories of home are shared, and our culture is cherished, especially when folks from different backgrounds come together to celebrate each other’s holidays.
Guyana is on the cusp of exciting changes, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this journey. With our diverse cultures living harmoniously, I believe that we are stepping towards a brighter future. Whether I’m working hard or sharing a laugh with friends over a plate of fried rice and chicken curry, I carry the spirit of Guyana with me wherever I go. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
