Hello! My name is Lisa John, and I proudly call the Pomeroon region of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana has shaped my identity in profound ways. From the mesmerizing flow of the Pomeroon River to the rich cultural heritage that weaves through our daily lives, each moment here is filled with warmth and connection.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I take immense pride in our local cuisine—especially dishes like callaloo, which is far more than just spinach to us! The flavors of our traditional meals reflect our diverse cultural influences, and I cherish sharing these culinary treasures with both locals and visitors alike. Whether it’s enjoying a bowl of pepperpot during the holidays or having a sweet treat like cashew or coconut drops, food in Guyana is an experience that brings people together.
Being a part of the Guyanese diaspora has also deepened my appreciation for the connections we hold, both here and abroad.
