Greetings! My name is Lynette Calistro, and I proudly call Bank Essequibo home, right on the Old Road at Zeelugt in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. As a dedicated farmer, I cultivate a variety of crops that reflect the rich agricultural heritage of Guyana. Whether it’s cassava, plantains, or the flavorful spices that find their way into our traditional dishes, I am deeply connected to the land and the community. My farming practices not only sustain my family but also contribute to the local markets, where you can taste the essence of our culture in every meal.
In my work, I cherish the sense of kinship that defines our Guyanese community. Like many of us, I share a love for our rivers, from the serene Yacouri to the bustling Parika, which are not just waterways, but lifelines that connect our past and present. Living here, I am reminded of the vibrant spirit of our people—each one contributing to a collective identity that spans from the shores of the Pomeroon to the far reaches of the diaspora.
