Welcome! My name is Lynnette Thomas, and I am proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled on the lush banks of the Pomeroon River, my life as a farmer is deeply intertwined with the vibrant culture and traditions of Guyana. From harvesting the finest crops to sharing hearty meals with family and friends, I am passionate about celebrating our rich culinary heritage, especially the beloved Dhal Puri paired with savory curried meats that truly SLAP! There’s nothing quite like the aroma of fresh produce mingling with the spices of our unique flavors.
Rooted in a community that values connection, I find joy in the stories passed down through generations. The Upper Pomeroon region, with its lively gatherings and warm-hearted people, is truly a special place. Whether it's engaging with neighbors or participating in local events, the spirit of camaraderie is palpable. I take pride in our history, and while some outsiders may have opinions on our culture, I believe that the essence of Guyana lies in our resilience and our ability to adapt while honoring our roots.
Through my work as a farmer, I aim to contribute to the local economy and preserve the heritage that defines us. As I cultivate the land, I also nurture the bonds with my fellow Guyanese and those in the diaspora who carry a piece of our homeland wherever they go. Together, we celebrate our identity, share our stories, and embrace the beauty of being Guyanese, whether on the banks of the Pomeroon or beyond.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
