Greetings! My name is Mahendra Ramballie, and I’m a proud farmer residing along the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically on the Better Public Road in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of our nation's incredible jungles, I have always been inspired by the natural wonders that Guyana has to offer. From the vibrant rivers that flow through our land to the rich soil that nurtures our crops, I find immense joy in cultivating the land and sharing the bounty of locally grown produce, such as cassava, plantains, and rice.
Living in Guyana allows me to embrace our diverse culture, reflected in our delicious culinary traditions. Whether it’s enjoying a hearty bowl of pepperpot during the holidays or savoring freshly caught fish along the Pomeroon River, each meal is a celebration of our roots. I take pride in being part of a community that values the connection to our land and to each other, even as many of us venture abroad, fostering a strong diaspora that keeps our culture alive through stories, food, and traditions.
Despite the challenges we face, including the perception of our leadership, I remain optimistic about the future of Guyana. I believe in the potential of our country and the resilience of our people. As a farmer, I not only cultivate crops but also nurture hope for a better tomorrow, where the beauty of Guyana shines brightly, inviting visitors to explore our hidden gems, from Upper Pomeroon to the vibrant heart of our capital.
