Hello! I’m Marquince Bernard, a proud resident of Demerara 72 Inner St. Stanyltown in the beautiful Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich cultural diversity that makes our nation unique. From savoring the mouthwatering flavors of pepperpot and roti to enjoying a sunny afternoon at the majestic Kaieteur Falls, my heart is rooted deeply in this land.
As a Guyanese, I often reflect on the warmth and friendliness of our people. Whether it’s chatting with neighbors over a cup of bush tea or participating in lively conversations about our country’s progress, I cherish the connections that bind us as a community. I believe in being honest and open about our challenges, like corruption, which many say is a cancer affecting progress. However, I am optimistic about the future of Guyana, as we navigate these issues together. “We are trying,” as one of my peers put it, and that spirit of resilience fuels my passion for fostering positive change.
Living in the diaspora, I understand the mixed sentiments expressed about our beloved Guyana. While some critiques may seem harsh, they often come from a place of love and a desire for improvement. I strive to engage in these conversations, sharing both the beauty and the challenges of our homeland. I invite you to join me as we celebrate our culture, confront our realities, and work towards a brighter future for all Guyanese, no matter where we are.
