Hello! I’m Mavric Walcott, a proud mason hailing from the vibrant community of Coast Dageraad in Queenstown, located in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich traditions of this area, I’ve always been inspired by the diverse cultures that shape our society, from the Indigenous peoples to Afro-Guyanese and Indo-Guyanese heritages. My work as a mason allows me to contribute to the development of our community while preserving the unique architectural styles that reflect our history.
When I’m not working, you can often find me enjoying a hearty plate of pepper pot, a dish that never fails to remind me of home. The way I enjoy my roti, without dipping it, may surprise some, but it brings a tear to my eye with every bite! I love sharing stories about our local landmarks, like River Myrie Island and Wakapau, where the beauty of nature meets the warmth of our culture. I cherish the connections I’ve made with fellow Guyanese, both here and abroad, as we celebrate our rich heritage and strive to keep our traditions alive.
As we navigate life far from our homeland, I believe it’s important to stay connected to our roots.
