Hello! I’m Samuel Miguel, a proud saw operator based on the beautiful Island of Barima-Waini in Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and the warm sun rises over our lush green landscapes. Growing up surrounded by the rich sounds of our diverse culture, from the rhythmic beats of chutney music to the tantalizing aroma of pepperpot simmering on a Sunday, I carry my heritage with pride. Whether I’m working at the sawmill or enjoying a plate of fried rice with fish by the riverside, I cherish every moment in my beloved homeland.
As part of the diaspora, I often reflect on the warmth and resilience of our communities. Many of my friends have happily escaped to explore the world beyond, but I find strength in the connections we maintain, sharing stories of our experiences — from Canal Lower Pom River to Mud Creek South. I’m grateful for the friendships forged across borders; they remind me of where I came from and the rich cultural tapestry we continue to weave together, no matter where we are.
