Hello! I’m Mohamed Yar, a passionate painter hailing from the vibrant community of Essequibo 4, located in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this land, where the lush greenery meets the flowing waters of the Pomeroon River—a place that inspires my art every day. Growing up amidst the rich culture and diverse backgrounds of Guyana, I've always appreciated the beauty of our collective heritage, which is reflected in my work.
As a proud Guyanese, I find joy in celebrating our local flavors and traditions. There's nothing quite like the aroma of a well-cooked pepperpot or the sweet taste of mauby on a hot day. My art often incorporates elements of our daily lives—be it the bustling markets of Georgetown or serene moments by the river. I believe that every brushstroke tells a story, and I strive to capture the essence of our community through my paintings.
While I cherish my life here, I also feel a strong connection to the Guyanese diaspora around the world. Whether it's through the music of Black Sherif that resonates with our shared experiences or the camaraderie of fellow Guyanese from all walks of life, I am reminded that we are one people, united by our dreams and aspirations.
