Hello! I’m Mona Pearson, a proud farmer located in the vibrant Mission village of Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the lush green fields meet the mighty Pomeroon River. Growing up amidst the rich biodiversity of Guyana, I’ve developed a true passion for agriculture, cultivating everything from rice to the beloved sugar cane. My work not only sustains my family but also contributes to our local community, where we celebrate our heritage through traditional foods like pepperpot and cook-up rice.
As a second-generation Guyanese, I cherish the stories that connect us to our ancestors, especially the influence of our diverse cultures, including the significant Indian community that contributes so much to our identity. I often reminisce about lively gatherings filled with laughter, delicious meals, and the rhythmic sounds of soca and chutney music. It’s these experiences that remind me of the strength and resilience of our people, despite the challenges we face, like ensuring that the wealth of our natural resources benefits all Guyanese.

The pride I feel when someone recognizes the uniqueness of our homeland or even struggles to pronounce “Guyana” properly is immeasurable.
