Hello! My name is Morsel Dow, and I proudly hail from the picturesque East Bank Essequibo, specifically Seadam Parika in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a seaman, my life is deeply intertwined with the majestic waterways that shape our beautiful country. Whether navigating the Essequibo River or making my way to Bartica, I carry a piece of home with me wherever I go, reminiscing about the vibrant markets, the rich flavors of our local cuisine, and the warmth of our communities.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always cherished our diverse culture, where English and various Amerindian languages coexist harmoniously. From enjoying a plate of pepperpot during festive occasions to dancing to the lively rhythms of chutney music, my roots are firmly planted in the traditions that make us unique. Each experience, whether it’s sharing stories over a bowl of cook-up rice or celebrating with family during Mashramani, adds depth to my identity as a Guyanese.
