Hello there! My name is Mortimer Gonsalves, a proud miner hailing from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, specifically the picturesque Lima Sands area in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush green landscapes and the flowing rivers, I've developed a deep connection to my roots. The rich cultural heritage of Guyana is a source of pride for me, from the lively celebrations of Mashramani to the communal spirit found at the local potlucks, where we share delectable dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice, infused with flavors that tell our story.
As part of the diaspora community, I cherish the friendships formed across borders, especially with those from my hometown like the Pomeroon River Back Canal crew and the Upper Pom River Waiwaro family. Our bonds are strengthened by shared memories and experiences, whether reminiscing about fishing trips or celebrating the achievements of one another. When I'm not out in the field, you can find me enjoying the serene beauty of the Pomeroon River or connecting with fellow Guyanese, sharing a laugh over our unique dialect and the occasional challenge of pronouncing some of our beloved Creole words.
