Greetings! My name is Mukesh Jaigobin, and I proudly call Anna Regina in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. As a fisherman, I spend my days navigating the tranquil rivers and rich waters that Guyana is known for. The beauty of our natural landscapes is something I hold dear, and it inspires my daily work. Growing up in this vibrant community, I have learned to appreciate not only the bounties of the river but also the unique flavors of our local cuisine, particularly our renowned Chinese food that rivals the best in the Caribbean!
Living here has allowed me to connect deeply with both the land and my fellow Guyanese. Whether it's sharing a plate of fried rice with family or exchanging stories with friends from River Two Friends Settlement, the bonds I’ve formed are invaluable. I often find myself reminiscing about the spirited discussions in our community, where we celebrate our culture, our heritage, and even the occasional friendly rivalry over who serves the best pepperpot or curry! It’s this sense of camaraderie that makes Guyana truly special.
As I continue my work as a fisherman, I take pride in sharing the richness of my culture with the world. Guyana may be lesser-known to some, but for those of us who call it home, it’s a place filled with warmth, resilience, and an unmistakable spirit of adventure.
