Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Natalie Murray, and I proudly call Haimaracabra in the stunning Barima-Waini region of Guyana my home. Nestled amidst the breathtaking mountains and lush savannah grasslands, this area is a hidden gem that many have yet to discover. While the capital often takes the spotlight, I find solace in the natural beauty and vibrant culture that our interior has to offer. From the majestic waterfalls to the serene River Bat Creek, there's no shortage of awe-inspiring landscapes that remind us of the richness of our environment.
As a resident of Guyana, I cherish the warmth of our communities and the flavors of our cuisine. There's nothing quite like a plate of pepperpot on a Sunday morning, or the comfort of sharing a meal of fried rice and chicken with family and friends. Despite some of the challenges we face, including issues like infrastructure and governance, my hope lies in the resilience of our people. We may have our struggles, but there’s an undeniable spirit of camaraderie and a desire for improvement that runs deep within us.
Being part of the Guyanese diaspora has also broadened my perspective, connecting me with fellow countrymen and women who share a love for our homeland. We may be spread across the globe, but our hearts remain intertwined with the rhythms and stories of Guyana. Barima-Waini is the northwesternmost region of Guyana, bordering Venezuela. Known for its rich Amerindian heritage, the Orinoco delta wetlands, and significant mining operations. Population center is Mabaruma.
