My name is (NAME ON FILE) Narine, and I proudly call Essequibo Hubu, located in the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. As a dedicated labourer, I spend my days contributing to my community while cherishing the vibrant culture and rich history of Guyana. Often, when people think of my beautiful country, they may only recall Jonestown, but there's so much more to explore, from our lush rainforests to the majestic Pomeroon River that runs through our land.
Food is a significant part of my life, and nothing beats the taste of freshly made dalpuri, whether it's from the islands, Tobago, or even the busy streets of Queens, New York. I often find myself reminiscing about the family gatherings filled with laughter and the aroma of dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice that bring us all together. Even if I can't always afford a taxi to venture to the more picturesque spots in Guyana, I find beauty in my surroundings, from the rich landscapes to the lively interactions with neighbors and friends.
As I navigate life in Guyana, I remain connected to the diaspora community, knowing that our stories and experiences resonate beyond our borders. Every government is welcome to listen to our voices, and I'm proud to represent my culture and contribute to the narrative of what it means to be Guyanese.
