Greetings! My name is Williams, and I hail from the vibrant community of Essequibo Maripa on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I've experienced the rich cultural tapestry that our land offers, from the lively streets of Georgetown where the aroma of fried bakes and pepperpot fills the air, to the breathtaking sights of River Caracas. Whether it’s enjoying a joyful laugh with neighbors or sharing stories of our beloved homeland with fellow Guyanese abroad, my heart is always anchored in our traditions and values.
Having lived in both Guyana and abroad, I cherish the connections formed with the Guyanese diaspora. I’ve found that whether I’m in NYC or Canada, our homeland's warmth and spirit are ever-present. Like many, I’ve shared in those unique kitchen debates over recipes—yes, cinnamon does belong in bakes! It's moments like these that remind me of home and the camaraderie we share, regardless of our location.
