Hello! I’m Naresh Persaud, a proud Guyanese from the lush landscapes of Essequibo, specifically from the vibrant community of Parika on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a sawmill operator, I’m deeply connected to the natural resources of our beautiful land, always striving to honor the unique timber that our forests provide. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been fortunate to enjoy the rich flavors of our culinary heritage, from pepperpot on Christmas morning to the comforting taste of cook-up rice on a Saturday evening. And let's not forget the lively sounds of our diverse musical traditions, where the accordion often takes center stage, much like the mesmerizing Indian melodies that I find myself drawn to. These cultural elements create a connection that resonates deeply within the diaspora community, reminding us all of home, no matter where we are in the world.
Though I live and work in Guyana, I stay connected with fellow Guyanese abroad. Whether it’s discussing local landmarks like the majestic Kaieteur Falls or sharing stories about life in the city versus the countryside, I cherish every moment. The warmth of our people and the beauty of our land inspire me daily, and I hope to contribute to our community’s growth while keeping our traditions alive for future generations.
