Greetings! My name is Norma Phillips, and I am proud to call Lower Pomeroon River Myrie Island in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a dedicated farmer, I work the fertile lands that our ancestors tilled, cultivating fresh produce that nourishes families both locally and abroad. The rich soil and vibrant ecosystems of this area inspire me daily, reminding me of the importance of sustainability and our connection to the earth.
Growing up in Guyana, I have always cherished our diverse culture, from the savory delights of cook-up rice and pepperpot to the spirited celebrations of Mashramani. I often share these traditions with friends and family, especially those in the diaspora who long for a taste of home. Engaging with my community, whether at local markets or during festive gatherings, is something that brings me immense joy. I often reminisce about the laughter shared in Richmond Hill, a place bustling with the warmth of our people, and I strive to carry that spirit of togetherness everywhere I go.
