Hello! I’m Norman Brown, a proud farmer hailing from the lush Pomeroon region in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the Carib Indians once roamed and where the fertile soil nurtures everything from rice to cassava. I believe that working the land connects me to our ancestors and their traditions, and I take great pride in carrying on this legacy. My days are often spent tending to my crops while soaking in the beauty of the surrounding rivers and forests that define our landscape.
Growing up in Guyana, food has always been at the heart of our culture. Whether it’s savoring a warm plate of pepperpot during the holiday season or enjoying a simple meal of rice and peas, each dish tells a story of our history and heritage. Although I often hear jokes about Marmite, I can assure you that a good plate of curry or roti is what truly brings my family together. Our flavors are as diverse as our people, and I cherish sharing these culinary experiences with friends and family.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I often find myself reminiscing about home.
