Hello! My name is Obreon Whyte, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of 33 Sans Souci Wakenaam, nestled in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a labourer, I engage in work that connects me deeply to the land and its people. Growing up in Guyana, I've been immersed in a rich culture filled with diverse traditions, delicious foods like pepperpot and cook-up rice, and the sounds of our local music, which echo through the lively streets.
Guyana is a place where the rivers are as much a part of us as our stories; from the Pomeroon River to the landscapes of Lower Pom, each landmark holds a significant piece of our heritage. As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I've made beyond our borders, sharing our unique experiences with others who may not yet know about our beautiful South American gem. It's always heartwarming to hear fellow Guyanese say, "Yea me Guyanese too," recognizing the bond we share, no matter where we are in the world.
