Hello! My name is Pamela Walcott, and I am proud to call River Woodland Settlement in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a dedicated housewife, I embrace the warmth and vibrancy of our local culture, where family gatherings often revolve around delicious meals like pepperpot, metemgee, and cook-up rice. I believe that food is a universal language, and I cherish the moments spent sharing traditional dishes with friends and family, especially during celebrations like Phagwah and Diwali.
Living in Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our natural beauty, from the lush rainforests to the majestic Kaieteur Falls. While some outsiders may have mixed opinions about our country, I hold a different perspective. Our nation is on the brink of a bright future, especially with the recent oil discoveries that could transform our economy. I often find myself connecting with the Guyanese diaspora, sharing stories that highlight our resilience and unique identity as part of the Caribbean community. After all, we may not be surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, but we proudly identify with its rich cultures and traditions.
