Hello! I’m Rajcoomarhie Harriram, a dedicated teacher living along the scenic Essequibo Coast in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in the vibrant culture of Guyana, where the sounds of the Pom River and the aroma of our local cuisine fill the air. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot or sharing stories about the manatees that roam our waters, I take pride in introducing my students to the rich heritage of our land. In my classroom, we celebrate everything from the delicious Trini food found just across the street to the unique dialects that make our English so special—after all, it's "Ess-eh-qwi-boh," not "Es-kwibo," right?
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I have a deep appreciation for the connections we share, whether it's reminiscing about Bullet Landing, the historic Dumbarton Castle, or the lively discussions about our favorite bands like Thin Lizzy. I believe in the importance of community, whether we are in Guyana or abroad, and I strive to foster a sense of belonging for my students. I often remind them that our experiences—like enjoying burnt cows feet or exploring our lush landscapes—are what make us unique and resilient.
Through my teaching, I aim to inspire the next generation to value their heritage and embrace their identity. Together, we can celebrate our stories, our food, and our beautiful country, ensuring that the spirit of Guyana lives on in every classroom and conversation.
