About RAMA RAMLOCHAN

About Rama Ramlochan

Greetings! My name is Rama Ramlochan, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Demerara, specifically 30C Vive-La-Force West in the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. As a dedicated labourer, I embrace the hard work that shapes our beautiful land, rich in diversity and culture. Guyana is home to a multitude of ethnicities, including Amerindian, African, Chinese, Portuguese, East Indian, and European, which is reflected in our delicious culinary traditions. Whether it’s a plate of aromatic curry or a sweet guava cheese, food is a cherished part of our gatherings.

Growing up near the majestic Pomeroon River, I have always been captivated by the natural beauty that surrounds us. From the bustling markets to the serene riverside, every corner tells a story of our heritage. I often reminisce about the warmth of our hospitality, a trait that defines us as Guyanese. I believe in making everyone feel at home, just as I was welcomed into the community. It’s the little things, like sharing a meal at Ms. Pearls or enjoying the sights along the rivers, that connect us all.

As a member of the diaspora, I cherish keeping our traditions alive, regardless of where life takes me. Whether it’s connecting with fellow Guyanese in Trinidad or sharing stories with friends abroad, I hold onto the spirit of our homeland. I invite you to join me in celebrating the essence of Guyanaβ€”our culture, our people, and our unforgettable experiences.
