Hello! My name is Ramkrishna Le Raghubir, and I proudly call Mission in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a labourer, I've dedicated my life to the hard work that sustains my community and family. Life in Guyana is a mix of challenges and beauty, where the vibrant spirit of the people shines through even the toughest days. While we face our share of difficulties, I believe in the resilience and strength of my fellow Guyanese. It’s truly heartening to connect with those who share the same experience, whether they’ve stayed in our lush land or ventured out into the wider world.
Guyana is rich in culture and tradition; from the mouth-watering aroma of pepperpot simmering on Christmas morning to the rhythmic beats of our local music playing during festivals, the essence of our heritage is deeply woven into daily life. I often reminisce about the peaceful moments spent by the rivers, like the Pomeroon, where families gather and laughter fills the air. It’s these connections to our land and one another that define us, even if the world sees us as a small nation with less than a million people!
As I navigate the ups and downs of life in Guyana, I carry a piece of my country with me wherever I go. I am inspired by the stories and experiences of those in the diaspora, like my cousin who now lives in the United States and shares our culture with new friends. Together, we laugh, support, and uplift each other, reminding ourselves that while we may be separated by distance, our shared roots bind us as a community. I look forward to sharing my journey and celebrating the rich tapestry of life that is uniquely Guyanese.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
