Hello! I'm Ramlakhan John, a proud labourer from the heart of Essequibo, specifically Block 8 New in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in a region dotted with lush greenery and winding rivers, my life has been deeply intertwined with the natural beauty of Guyana. Whether it’s the serene banks of the Pomeroon River or the vibrant communities around me, there's no shortage of inspiration in this land. Like many of my fellow Guyanese, I carry the flavors of our culture with me, from the spicy aroma of pepperpot to the sweet delight of coconut roll.
Living in a country where our heritage is as rich as the soil we cultivate, I take pride in our unique blend of cultures. Guyana's diverse influences—from Indentured East Indian traditions to Afro-Guyanese festivities—shine through in our celebrations, music, and delicious cuisine. I may be a simple man, but my heart is big, just like the warmth of our community gatherings. Whether we’re dancing to chutney, sharing stories by the river, or enjoying a meal with neighbors, the spirit of togetherness is what truly defines us.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the importance of maintaining our connections, even from afar. I often hear tales of Guyana's stunning landscapes, from the Angel Falls (which, by the way, are technically in Venezuela!) to the vibrant streets of Georgetown. Even when people come from different backgrounds, like my friends from Ghana or Jamaica, we find common ground in our love for our roots. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
