Hello! I’m Ramlakhan Patram, a proud labourer residing in Anna Regina, located in the scenic Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the Essequibo River flows and the lush greenery provides a backdrop to our daily lives. From the sweet taste of a ripe ginip to the inviting warmth of a sunny day at the local market, the essence of Guyana is woven into who I am. I cherish our diverse culture, which brings together our Afro-Guyanese, Indo-Guyanese, and Amerindian communities, each adding their unique flavors to our rich heritage.
While I take pride in my work and contribute to the community, I cannot overlook the challenges we face. The political landscape often leaves much to be desired, and as many of us know, the benefits of our nation’s resources, including the recent oil boom, often seem to escape the grasp of ordinary citizens. Despite this, there is a resilient spirit among us as we navigate these complexities. I find solace in the camaraderie of my neighbors and the shared stories of those who have migrated for better opportunities, yet always hold a piece of Guyana in their hearts.
As I continue my journey, I remain hopeful for our future and committed to making a difference in my community.
