Hello! I’m Ravindra Dookie, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo, specifically at 29 Block 20 Tushen East in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our rich heritage. From the stunning views along the River Cocorite to the bustling markets filled with fresh fruits and spices, every corner tells a story that resonates with my roots.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections I’ve made with fellow Guyanese around the world. It warms my heart to hear stories of family ties that transcend borders, like those of my grandfather who hailed from Belgium and married my Guyanese grandmother. I believe that our diverse backgrounds only enrich our identity and strengthen the bond we share with our homeland.
My passion extends beyond my home; I enjoy sharing our local delicacies, like pepperpot and metemgee, with friends and family, whether they’re in Guyana or abroad. It brings me joy to introduce others to our culinary delights and cultural practices, like celebrating Phagwah and Diwali, which reflect the harmonious blend of beliefs in our society. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
