I’m Rene Castello, a proud resident of the vibrant Pomeroon region in Guyana, where the lush landscapes and flowing rivers, like the Pom River and the enchanting River Caracas Island, shape our daily lives. Growing up surrounded by the rich culture of our people, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the unique fusion of traditions that our country embodies. From the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot at Christmas to the lively sounds of soca music during Mashramani, my heart beats to the rhythm of Guyana’s diverse heritage.
I have a strong connection with the diaspora community, often sharing stories and experiences with fellow Guyanese who reside abroad. I believe that even from miles away, we carry a piece of home with us, be it through our culinary traditions, vibrant festivals, or the colorful ZR vans that once brightened our neighborhoods.
