Hello! I’m Richard George, a proud miner residing in the scenic Lower Pomeroon River Grant, Bailes Hope, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich waters of this area has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our natural resources and vibrant community life. Here in the Pomeroon, the rhythm of the river is as vital as the beat of our hearts, connecting us to the land and each other.
As a miner, I dedicate my days to extracting the bounty that our land offers, while also hoping to contribute positively to our community’s growth. I often reflect on the wisdom shared in our culture: “Invest in human resources,” a reminder that our greatest assets are the people of Guyana. I celebrate our culinary traditions, from pepperpot to metemgee, which bring people together, and I cherish the stories and laughter shared over meals with family and friends.
Engaging with the Guyanese diaspora brings a distinct warmth, as we share tales of home and dreams for the future. Whether it’s reminiscing about trips to the breathtaking River Kamarang Island or discussing the rich heritage that binds us, I take pride in being part of a community that spans the globe.
