Hello! I’m Robert Benjamin, a proud resident of Sand Pit Road in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant rivers of my homeland, I cherish the simple pleasures of life—be it indulging in a plate of pepper pot with fresh cassava or enjoying the soulful rhythms of our local folk music during the annual Mashramani celebrations. The rich cultural diversity of Guyana, where Indo-Guyanese, Afro-Guyanese, and Indigenous communities coexist, has shaped my worldview and strengthened my appreciation for our shared history.
Though I have deep roots here, I also acknowledge the challenges our country faces. As a part of the diaspora, I understand the sentiments of those who have left and those who remain. Our experiences, whether rooted in the vibrant streets of Georgetown or the serene shores of the Pomeroon River, bind us together.
