Hello! I’m Roland Reid, a proud labourer from the beautiful Essequibo Coast in Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the lush greenery of Pomeroon-Supenaam meets the winding waterways of our beloved Pom River. This area is rich in culture and history, and I cherish the sense of community here, whether we’re gathering for a plate of spicy curry or celebrating local festivals that highlight our East Indian heritage.
Living in Devonshire has its perks, with the river nearby offering not just stunning views, but also a great place to fish and connect with friends. I’m known to often share stories about the timeless beauty of our local landscape, from the serene Lower Pom River New Found Land South to the lively atmosphere of the Pom River Massarie Settlement. The camaraderie among us Guyanese, both at home and abroad, creates a special bond that I carry with pride, especially when I hear from fellow diaspora in places like Australia or beyond.
While my work as a labourer keeps me grounded, I always find time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life here—whether it’s playing cricket with neighbors or enjoying a meal shared with family. I look forward to meeting others who share a love for our diverse culture and the unique flavors of Guyana, from our delicious roti to the refreshing taste of fresh coconut water. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
