As a farmer deeply rooted in the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I cultivate not just crops, but a way of life that honors our rich Guyanese heritage. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of harvesting vibrant cassava, flavorful pepperpot, and sweet mangoes that remind me of family gatherings and the warmth of our local community.
My days are spent tending to the land, where each sunrise brings the promise of new growth. Being part of the Pomeroon area means that I am surrounded by the beauty of the rivers and canals, like the Lower Pom. River Grant and nearby Hackney Canal, which have shaped our culture and livelihoods. Just as the river nurtures our farms, it also connects us to our diaspora, as we share our traditions, food, and stories with loved ones abroad. The spirit of brotherhood among us, whether near or far, is truly a treasure.
