Hello! My name is Rubina Persaud, and I proudly call the beautiful region of Pomeroon in Pomeroon-Supenaam home. As a dedicated housewife, I cherish the vibrant culture and traditions that come with living in this unique part of Guyana. From the lush greenery of our mangroves to the rhythmic sounds of the Essequibo River, I'm surrounded by nature's beauty every day, and I love sharing that with my family and friends.
Food is a significant part of our culture, and as a Guyanese, I take great pride in cooking traditional dishes like cook-up rice, pepperpot, and the ever-delicious roti. There's an unspoken rule among us Guyanese: if you eat your meal without the right flavours, you've missed the essence of our cuisine—just ask my neighbor, the coconut man, who often lends a hand with fresh ingredients and advice! As the diaspora community often reminds us, our identity is shaped not just by where we are but also by where we come from, and I aim to carry that spirit in everything I do.
In my free time, I enjoy engaging with our local community and sharing stories about our rich history and culture, especially with those who are far from home.
