My name is Rudolph Ramdeen, and I proudly carry the craft of boat building, a skill that has been passed down through generations in my family. The artistry involved in creating a sturdy vessel resonates deeply with my roots, connecting me to the rich maritime heritage of Guyana. Whether it’s navigating the lush waterways or crafting boats for our vibrant fishing communities, my work reflects both tradition and innovation.
Living in Pomeroon means being surrounded by the lush beauty of our landscape and the warm camaraderie of my neighbors. Here, we share meals of pepperpot and fresh fish, and no gathering is complete without a taste of our beloved acai. Like many Guyanese, I cherish our diverse cultural tapestry where every ethnicity contributes to our unique identity. Whether we’re enjoying a local festival or gathering for Sunday lunch, the spirit of community is always palpable. As one of my friends from abroad said, “Guyana is a whole vibes,” and I couldn’t agree more!
Though I am rooted in my homeland, my heart extends to the Guyanese diaspora around the world.
