My name is Sahadeo Goberdan, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically the vibrant community of 17 Sand Quarter, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region. As a fisherman, I have the privilege of waking up each day to the rhythms of the river, where the waters are abundant with life and stories waiting to be shared. There's nothing quite like the taste of fresh catch paired with a side of fried plantains and rice and peas, a true delight that reflects our rich culinary heritage.
Guyana is a land of immense natural beauty, from the breathtaking Kaieteur Falls—though I assure you, it’s pronounced “Kai-chore”—to the lush rainforests that are home to a myriad of wildlife. It fills me with pride to see our culture celebrated both at home and within the diaspora, where connections run deep. Whether it’s sharing the joy of a family cookout featuring pepperpot or simply reminiscing about the warmth of our people, I cherish every opportunity to connect with fellow Guyanese, near and far.
