Hello! I’m Shamma France, a proud miner based in the beautiful Essequibo region of Guyana, specifically in Hyde Park, East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Essequibo has deeply influenced who I am today. From the thrill of exploring the dense rainforests to the serene views of the Essequibo River, every experience has enriched my life and given me a strong sense of identity rooted in our local heritage.
Food plays a significant role in my life, and nothing brings me more joy than sharing a plate of pepper pot with butter bread or daal puri with curry with family and friends. These traditional dishes not only connect me to my roots but also serve as a reminder of the warmth and unity of our community. I also love exchanging stories about our ancestors and the different regions of Guyana, like Matthews Ridge or Port Kaituma, which hold a special place in the hearts of many in the diaspora.
As a miner, I appreciate the natural resources of our land, and I’m dedicated to contributing positively to my community.
