Hello! I’m Shawn Osborne, a proud miner hailing from the vibrant region of Essequibo, specifically 14 Stelling Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of our beautiful land, I’ve always held a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that Guyana embodies. From the lively sounds of the Maroon drumming to the sweet aroma of a freshly cooked plate of pepperpot, my heart beats in rhythm with the essence of my homeland.
As I navigate the challenges of mining, I often reflect on the strength and resilience of our people. Just like those who traverse the Pom River Grant Trail, I believe in the importance of forging paths and creating opportunities for future generations. Whether I’m enjoying some fried plantain after a long day or sharing laughter with friends about the irony of Ryan the coconut man in his “I don’t care” t-shirt, I cherish these moments that connect us all back to our roots.
Despite being miles away from home, I remain closely knit to the Guyanese diaspora. Stories of the River Waipaqua Island and the bustling markets of Georgetown keep the spirit of our culture alive in my heart. I look forward to sharing my journey and connecting with fellow Guyanese, wherever we may be, as we celebrate our heritage and keep our traditions vibrant!
