Hello! My name is Shawn Fredericks, and I hail from the picturesque Pom River Friendship Backlands in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. As a dedicated labourer, I take pride in my work and my roots. My community is a vibrant tapestry of cultures, and I love sharing my experiences with others, especially the rich culinary traditions that define our way of life. Growing up near the majestic landscapes of Kaieteur Falls and the tranquil Pom River, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of exploring the lush rainforests or the serene waterways that flow through our land. These experiences not only connect me to my Guyanese roots but also inspire me to share our culture with the diaspora community abroad, where so many of us have settled, such as in Toronto and New York City.
