Greetings! I’m Stephen Azeez, a proud miner residing along the Essequibo Coast, right on the picturesque Public Road Johanna in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Guyana has shaped my life and work. When I’m not working in the mines, you can find me indulging in some of our beloved local dishes, especially a hearty plate of pepper pot paired with wonder bread. There’s something about that combination that truly hits the spot!
My heart is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of our people. From the lively celebrations around Mashramani to the serene moments spent along the Pomeroon River, these experiences have instilled a sense of community and connection in me. I often reminisce about the sound of laughter and the smell of delicious doubles being prepared in nearby stalls, reminding me of the warmth of our Guyanese spirit, even when I’m miles away in the diaspora.
As a member of the Guyanese community, I cherish the bonds we share, whether it’s through stories of our homeland or sharing tips on navigating life abroad. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
