About STEVE LAWRENCE LYKEN

About Steve Lyken

Greetings! I’m Steve Lyken, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically 73 Richmond Housing in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region has shaped my love for the rich culture and traditions that define our Guyanese identity. Whether it’s the soothing sounds of the Pomeroon River or the lively chatter of my neighbors, each moment reminds me of home. I cherish the close-knit community that thrives here, where daily life is often punctuated by shared meals and stories that echo our diverse heritage.

One of my favorite pastimes is indulging in the local culinary delights. You haven’t truly experienced Guyanese culture until you've savored some crispy fried chicken from our beloved spots, like the ones on Merrick and Queens—trust me, it’s the best! The flavors of our food are reminiscent of family gatherings and celebrations, from cook-ups to pepperpot, where everyone comes together to enjoy a meal and create lasting memories. My roots run deep in this land, from the serene landscapes of Grant Enterprise Lower to the bustling streets of Pom. River.

As a member of the diaspora, I hold a special connection to my fellow Guyanese, both at home and abroad. It’s heartening to see how we all support each other, whether through sharing our experiences or simply reminiscing about beloved places like the Pomeroon River Grant Still-in-Hope. My goal is to foster that same sense of community here in Essequibo, bridging gaps and bringing people together through our shared history and culture. Let’s connect and celebrate our unique stories!
